DICE CONTROL
Modern craps players have been experimenting with dice control since the 1920s but it was not until 1996 that a workable dice control method was developed. That is when Chris Pawlicki known as “SharpShooter” and Jerry Patterson developed PARR, The Patterson Rhythm Roll.
SharpShooter, an engineer in the automotive industry, applied his extensive knowledge of physics to the development of a dice delivery system (the throw) that would produce predictable positive results. Predictable positive results are results that measured over time (thousands of throws) reveal the losing seven fewer times than a random throw. The random occurrence of the losing seven is one in six throws. This is reffered to as an SRR (Sevens To Rolls Ratio) of 1:6.
Because of the way the numbers on the dice are arranged there are more ways to make a seven than to make any other number and seven is in most cases a losing number. If one can reduce the occurrence of the seven from one in six throws (SRR 1:6) to one in seven (SRR 1:7) and bet properly, the casino’s edge is erased.
Once the delivery method was developed it was combined with the proper grip (how the dice are held when preparing to throw) to insure that each throw is consistent. SharpShooter then developed various dice sets, ways to align certain number combinations on the dice that when thrown correctly yield certain results more often than others. For example, there is a dice set that yields more sixes and eights and one that yields more fives and nines. In fact during a shootout with several other PARR instructors I saw Sharpshooter establish a point number of nine (the object of the shootout was to see who could throw more point numbers, in this case nine, before throwing a seven). SharpShooter established the 5, 4 nine and threw the same 5, 4 combination eight more times in a row before blowing away the competition. The proper dice set, grip and delivery made this possible. The great thing about PARR is that with practice anyone with reasonable dexterity and eye hand coordination can master it.
Being able to predict which numbers are likely to be thrown allowed Jerry, a college math major and computer expert and SharpShooter to develop betting strategies and money management techniques to take advantage of their new-found craps advantage. These common sense and mathematically verifiable strategies allow the advantage player and his partners to risk less while winning more and that is a beautiful thing.
Professional’s Insight Series Craps DVDs provide detailed instruction on the dice sets, grips and delivery system developed by Jerry Patterson and SharpShooter along with sound betting and money management strategies that will make you a winner at the craps table. Now remember, this is a skill that must be practiced to be perfected but with the aid of our DVDs and the ability to watch them over and over even in slow-motion and freeze frame you will learn how to do it, we are sure of it. Dice control is a skill you can learn, we guarantee it! Good luck and we will see YOU at the cashier’s cage.
